Moving resources

When a member leaves, what they hold falls into two groups, and they are moved by different people.

Some things never move: running labs (stop them first), Zeal and Jolt balances, SSH keys, their sign-in identity, uploaded files and notifications.

Transfer entitlements​

  1. Go to Instances → Workgroups and open the organization's (or department's) Settings → Members.
  2. On the person's row, click Transfer their entitlements.
  3. Read the preview. It lists what they hold here — department ownerships, which are reassigned to the recipient, and access grants, which are revoked. If it says Nothing to transfer, you can simply remove them.
  4. In Transfer to, pick the recipient.
  5. Type the confirmation text shown (TRANSFER followed by their username) and click Transfer.

You see Entitlements transferred. when it is done. If part of it fails, the message says so — check the activity log before trying again.

This cannot be undone from the dialog

The recipient becomes the owner of the departments listed. To reverse it, the new owner has to transfer them back.

Personal resources​

If the person's own domains, devices, templates, services or storage need to stay with the organization, ask a platform administrator to move them. Storage moves run in the background; you get a Storage transfer completed (or FAILED) notification when they finish.

Then remove the member​

Once the transfer is done, remove them as described in Members and roles.

Always preview first

The preview is exactly what a transfer will move, and it lists running labs that block it — stop those first. Personal resources, SSH keys and Zeal and Jolt balances never move this way.
